Hysterectomy in Turkey:

Procedure Details, Risks, Benefits & Recovery

A hysterectomy is the removal of the uterus. In other words, it means the complete removal of the organ, which is the main reproductive organ of the woman, in which the baby settles, grows, and normal menstruation is observed in the prenatal or postnatal periods, in other words, the reproductive feature of the woman has ended. Uterine removal surgery, which can be performed for many different reasons, is one of the most frequently performed surgical procedures in gynecological terms. Hysterectomy surgery can be performed with opena and close techniques depending on the condition of the patient and the disease.

What is the side effects of Hysterectomy?

There is a risk of anesthesia and peripheral vascular structures, clot and embolism in every surgery. In hysterectomy surgery, the risks vary according to the type of hysterectomy.

Laparoscopy can also have risks. It may be possible to give the gas more than it should be, experience gas embolism caused by gas, and uncontrolled bleeding.

In all types of hysterectomy or other surgical options, injury to other organs in the abdomen may be encountered. It is important to determine the appropriate surgical approaches to avoid these injuries. It is essential for every surgeon to make the necessary interventions and take precautions in these situations.

The hysterectomy procedure must be performed in equipped centers by experienced specialists.

The recovery period in the closed surgical method, namely Laparoscopic surgery, is approximately 10-15 days. The time for patients to return to social life after uterine removal surgery may vary depending on their job status and the surgical technique applied in the surgery. If the patient works at a desk job, the average time to return to work is 1 week in laparoscopic surgeries. In open surgery, this period is around 2-3 weeks.

Vaginoplasty in Turkey (Vaginal Reshaping & Tightening) :

Procedure Details, Risks, Benefits & Recovery

The wear and tear in the vaginal area affects both men and women negatively during sexual intercourse. With vaginal tightening operations, sexual life can be improved and the woman’s self-confidence can be renewed. Vaginoplasty is a treatment method that restores the wear and tear in the vagina due to birth or aging. The aim of this operation is to remove the deformed tissue in the vagina, and to tighten the surrounding muscles and other tissue surgically to normalize them. Sometimes, these surgeries are performed together with surgical applications for problems such as weakening of the muscles or urinary incontinence due to birth traumas or difficulties in making bowel movements.

What is the side effects of Vaginoplasty?

The most common risks (complications) of vaginal tightening surgery include bleeding, infection, bowel (rectum) injuries, pain during intercourse (due to excessive tightening) or not meeting the desired post-operative expectation.

It should not be forgotten that there is a certain percentage of complications in any surgical procedure. Such complications or dissatisfaction are minimal in the hands of experienced surgeons.

IVF in Turkey (In Vitro Fertility) :

Procedure Details, Risks, Benefits & Recovery

In vitro fertilization is a procedure that is applied if a successful pregnancy does not occur in the absence of sexual intercourse for an average of 1 year. Egg cells taken from the mother-to-be and healthy sperm taken from the father-to-be are fertilized in the laboratory and successfully transferred to the uterus.

In vitro fertilization is an effective solution when a successful pregnancy does not occur naturally despite attempts at pregnancy. This procedure can be applied as a classical in vitro fertilization (IVF) and microinjection (ICSI) method according to the fertilization of the eggs. In vitro fertilization treatment is shaped according to the disability reasons for couples who do not have children.

In the classical IVF treatment, eggs are taken from the ovaries of the expectant mother and fertilized with sperm in the laboratory. The resulting healthy embryos are then transferred into the uterus.

In the microinjection method, a single sperm cell taken from the father-to-be and the egg cell taken from the mother-to-be are inserted with a thin needle with the help of a microscope. This method is generally used in cases of male-induced infertility.

What is the side effects of IVF?

Medicines

The drugs needed in IVF treatment (ovulation induction drugs) provide stimulation of the ovaries to produce one or more eggs. Possible side effects of these drugs include:

Mild pain and mild bruising at the injection site. Injecting into different areas can help. Allergic reaction, gastrointestinal distress, headache and mood changes.

Ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS)

It is a condition in which the ovaries produce too many follicles (fluid-filled sacs containing eggs) and grow much more than normal. OHSS is a complication that can result from almost any fertility drug. It is usually mild and can heal without treatment.

Embrio Collection Process

In the embrio collection process, your doctor takes the eggs inside the follicles with a thin, long needle under the guidance of vaginal ultrasound. It is usually done under anesthesia. Possible risks are:

Mild to moderate discomfort (during or after the procedure)
Damage to organs near the ovaries (such as the bladder, bowel, or blood vessels)

Bleeding in the ovarian or pelvic vessels.

Bleeding is usually mild and rarely requires transfusion or surgery.

Pelvic infection (mild to severe)

Such infections are extremely rare. However, if it occurs, it can be severe and can be treated with intravenous antibiotics. Very rarely, surgery may be required to remove the infected uterus and/or ovary(s) and tube(s).

Multiple pregnancy

There is a risk of multiple pregnancy (twins or more) in IVF treatment. The more embryos transferred, the greater the risk.

Congenital Disorders

The goal in IVF is to have a healthy baby. There does not appear to be an increased risk of congenital defects in children born via IVF.

Abortion

The rate of pregnancy loss and abortion after IVF is the same as in the general population. The risk increases with increasing maternal age. The miscarriage rate can be 15% for women in their 20s and more than 50% for women in their 40s.

Labiaplasty in Turkey (Labial Reduction):

Procedure Details, Risks, Benefits & Recovery

Labiaplasty is operations performed to correct the lips in the female genital area for aesthetic concerns or functional reasons. The lips called labium, which is one of the external genital organs, are thicker and fuller large lips covered with hairs, and thinner small lips located in the inner part of the large lips.

When labiaplasty is mentioned, inner lip reduction surgeries that are performed mostly because the inner lips are large, asymmetrical or drooping come to mind. More rarely, interventions such as reduction or enlargement of the outer lips can be performed.

Conditions such as the inner lips being large, asymmetrical, drooping, irregularly bordered, and dark in color may be due to innate genetic characteristics; During the life of women, there may be changes in the external genital structures due to the effect of hormones during puberty, advancing age, weakening of tissues in estrogen deficiency due to menopause, and birth and pregnancies. In addition, undesirable and uncomfortable situations may occur in the external genital area for many reasons such as frequent vaginal-vulvar infections, weight gain and trauma. With labiaplasty procedures, these elongated, sagging or asymmetrical lips can be shortened and shaped. Hollow and relaxed lips can be tightened and filled with Hyaluronic Acid fillers.

What is the side effects of Labiaplasty?

In labiaplasty, sutures that can dissolve in a short time are used, so there is no need to remove the stitches after the surgery. In a period of 1 week, the wounds heal to a large extent, 2-3 days after the operation. In a week, the stitches fall off on their own. Although it may vary depending on the tissue structure of the person; Generally, a very neat appearance can be obtained when the appropriate sewing technique and material is used.

A temporary edema occurs due to the procedure performed after labiaplasty surgery. The edema that occurs during the healing process gradually decreases. In order to prevent edema, ice applications are recommended at certain intervals in the first days after the operation.

There is no loss of sensation after labiaplasty surgery. On the contrary, sexual functions can be improved by removing the excess tissue around the clitoris, which is usually performed with labiaplasty. After the operation, the difficulty of sexual intercourse and pain due to sagging of the inner lip and its size disappear in women. However, the improvement in appearance enables the person to gain self-confidence. All these increase the pleasure received during intercourse. Thus, a significant improvement in sexual life is achieved.

Therapy of Human Papillomavirus-Related (HPV) Disease in Turkey

Colposcopy is a diagnostic procedure in which a colposcope (a dissecting microscope with various magnification lenses) is used to provide an illuminated, magnified view of the cervix, vagina, vulva, or anus. The primary goal of colposcopy is to identify precancerous and cancerous lesions so that they may be treated early.

LEEP conization is a surgical procedure that is applied surgically for both diagnosis and treatment in cases where CIN 2, CIN 3 (HSIL) is determined in patients who underwent colposcopy / biopsy in routine gynecological follow-ups to detect cervical cancer precursor cells. Leep conization surgery is usually performed for both diagnosis and treatment of cell changes in the cervix caused by HPV infection. It comes to the forefront as a surgical procedure, especially for the diagnosis of CIN 2 and CIN 3. Whether the LEEP procedure is performed or not is decided according to the results of the colposcopic biopsy. After the area determined by the Leep procedure is removed, it is then sent to pathology.

What is the side effects of HPV?

HPV (Human papilloma virus) can cause lesions called genital warts or condylomas. It can cause cancer formation in women and men, depending on the region it originates from. It can cause cervical cancer in women, anal cancer around the anus in men and women, penile and urethra even bladder cancer in men. Likewise, due to oral sex, they can cause cancer formation by forming lesions in the mouth, tongue and palate.

It is necessary not to increase intra-abdominal pressure for 1-2 days after Leep conization surgery. It is important to avoid straining, especially on the toilet.

There is a recovery period of approximately 4-6 weeks after Leep surgery. There should be no sexual intercourse during this period.

It is important to pay attention to hygienic conditions in order to avoid infection.

Bleeding in the form of spots may occur after Leep conization surgery, this does not indicate a problem. However, it is necessary to consult a doctor in cases of falling or excessive bleeding.
There is no limitation in taking a bath after Leep surgery.
