Hair Transplantation

Hair Transplant for Burn Victims

Especially people who have had a burn accident on the scalp are looking for ways to hide the balding scars (burn scar alopecia) that occur after the burn. Hair transplant is one of the most efficient ways to treat burn scars on scalp.Before deciding the hair transplant;

  • The age of the burn victim
  • The area size of burn scar and
  • The area where the burn scar is located are very important.

Scalp burns by size: Local single zone, local multi-zone, general

Scalp burns by location: Forehead, middle scalp, vertex, occipital burns

Why the age is important? :

The most efficient hair follicles used in hair transplantation are usually collected from the nape area between the two earhair transplant burns.If there are local unilateral burns in this area, it is easy to treat. The picture on the left shows the condition of our 16-year-old patient with unilateral local burn, 6 months after the hair transplantation performed by us. It is aimed to achieve a homogeneous distribution with hair follicles taken from the right occipital region. Providing the same homogeneous distribution in multi-zone burns is inversely proportional to the size and number of burns. In addition, considering the resistance of the hair in the nape area to androgenetic alopecia, treating burns on the forehead and middle scalp has the same principles as treating a patient with genetic hair loss. It may not be right to take hair follicles from the forehead area for a patient with a burns in the neck area at an early age. The risk of future genetic hair loss of the transplanted roots should be taken into consideration.
